The bill would amend the Family Code to make agreed protective orders civilly and criminally enforceable, would amend the list of persons that may file an application for a protective order, and require that proof of service on a respondent must be filed before a hearing in which a court may issue a protective order by default due to a respondent's failure to appear. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources. In addition, no significant impact to the state court system is anticipated due to implementing the provisions of the bill.
