The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code to create the Class B misdemeanor offense of operating a boarding home facility without a permit in certain counties and municipalities. Local Government ImpactAccording to the Texas Association of Counties, no significant fiscal implication to Harris County is anticipated. No significant fiscal implication to other units of local government is anticipated.A Class B misdemeanor is punishable by a fine of not more than $2,000, confinement in jail for a term not to exceed 180 days, or both. Costs associated with enforcement, prosecution and confinement could likely be absorbed within existing resources.
