It is assumed that the costs associated with the bill's provisions relating to a border operations training program for peace officers employed by local law enforcement agencies could be absorbed using existing resources.  Local Government ImpactAccording to the Sheriff's Association of Texas, the fiscal impact to local governments depends on the number of hours the Texas Department of Public Safety determines is needed for border operations training classes and whether or not the training becomes mandatory, and therefore cannot be determined at this time.
