SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 466
WHEREAS, Kevin Lake retired as Panola County sheriff in May
2021, following an exemplary career spanning 29 years in law
enforcement; and
WHEREAS, In 1992, Mr. Lake joined the sheriff's office as a
reserve deputy; he was hired on full-time as a detention deputy
three years later, and within months, he was promoted to senior
detention officer; in 1997, he began patrolling as a K9 deputy,
and he and his K9 partners made many drug finds and arrests; he
also benefited his community as a volunteer firefighter; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Lake went on to serve as constable for
Precincts 1 and 4 from 2005 until 2012, when he became chief
deputy of the sheriff's office; he was appointed sheriff in 2013;
although he has passed the baton to a new sheriff, he will
maintain his peace officer commission and continue to serve as a
reserve deputy constable; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure with the Panola County
Sheriff's Office, Kevin Lake set high standards of
professionalism and demonstrated an unyielding commitment to
public safety, and he has earned the lasting respect and
appreciation of his fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
Legislature, hereby congratulate Kevin Lake on his retirement as
Panola County sheriff and extend to him sincere best wishes for
continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
prepared for Mr. Lake as an expression of high regard from the
Texas Senate.
