SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 36
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Rio Grande Valley Hispanic Genealogical Society of
Harlingen, which is hosting the 41st Annual Texas Hispanic
Genealogical and Historical Conference on October 14 through 16,
2021; and
WHEREAS, The Rio Grande Valley Hispanic Genealogical
Society of Harlingen is one of seven such organizations in Texas;
sister organizations are the Tejano Genealogical Society,
Austin; the Hispanic Organization for Genealogy and Research,
Dallas; Los Bexareños Genealogical and Historical Society, San
Antonio; the Houston Hispanic Genealogical Society; the Spanish
American Genealogical Association, Corpus Christi; and the Villa
de San Agustin Genealogical Society, Laredo; and
WHEREAS, This annual event is the largest conference of its
kind in the United States and draws a wide range of researchers,
authors, historians, and genealogical and DNA professionals; and
WHEREAS, This year's conference will offer lectures and
symposia, along with tours to areas of historic interest, that
will highlight the Hispanic heritage of South Texas and northern
Mexico; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend the Rio Grande
Valley Hispanic Genealogical Society of Harlingen and its sister
organizations on their commitment to educating the public
regarding Hispanic heritage and extend to them best wishes for a
successful 41st Annual Texas Hispanic Genealogical and
Historical Conference; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
this exemplary organization as an expression of esteem from the
Texas Senate.
