The bill would prohibit the importation, disposal, and storage of high-level radioactive waste in an area of Texas designated by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) as a critical energy infrastructure zone. Based on the analysis of the Comptroller of Public Accounts and TCEQ, it is assumed that duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed with existing resources.  Local Government ImpactNo significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
