No. 163 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the passing of Anthony Standley of Oyster Creek on August 26, 2021, at the age of 56; and WHEREAS, The son of Sidney and Barbara Means, Tony Standley was born on January 26, 1965, and he grew up with the companionship of three siblings, Paula, Cynthia, and Lynn; and WHEREAS, Mr. Standley enjoyed a rewarding career in law enforcement that spanned nearly three decades; he worked for the police departments in Brazoria, Freeport, and Clute before joining the Oyster Creek Police Department; in April 2021, he was promoted to detective, and over the years, he also served as a supervisor and field training officer; along the way, he earned the deep respect and admiration of his colleagues, and he was honored with a Life Saving Award as well as a 100 Club Officer of the Year award; and WHEREAS, Blessed with a devoted family, Mr. Standley took great pride in his daughters, Kristin and Shelby, and his grandchildren, Odin, Matilda, Lily, and Lucy; in his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, painting, and drawing; and WHEREAS, Although he is deeply missed, Tony Standley made a meaningful difference in the lives of his loved ones and fellow citizens alike, and he will forever be remembered for his compassionate nature, his delightful sense of humor, and his unwavering commitment to serving his community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Anthony Standley and extend heartfelt sympathy to all who mourn his passing; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Tony Standley.
