This bill would amend the Election Code to provide for the postponement of the 2022 general primary election, the runoff primary election, and related deadlines contingent on the legislature's adoption of redistricting plans. The bill directs the Secretary of State (SOS) to adjust certain deadlines related to the postponement of the primary and runoff primary elections as necessary.According to the SOS, the bill would have no significant fiscal impact. The agency anticipates that it would be able to take necessary actions regarding any postponement using existing resources. According to Tarrant County, the bill could have a fiscal impact on the county if the early voting period of the primary were to overlap with the May municipal election.
