                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD     Austin, Texas       FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATURE 2nd CALLED SESSION 2021             August 19, 2021       TO: Honorable Trent Ashby, Chair, House Committee on Constitutional Rights & Remedies, Select     FROM: Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board      IN RE: SB13 by Huffman (Relating to dates of certain elections to be held in 2022.), As Engrossed     No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. This bill would amend the Election Code to provide for the postponement of the 2022 general primary election, the runoff primary election, and related deadlines contingent on the legislature's adoption of redistricting plans. The bill directs the Secretary of State (SOS) to adjust certain deadlines related to the postponement of the primary and runoff primary elections as necessary.According to the SOS, the bill would have no significant fiscal impact. The agency anticipates that it would be able to take necessary actions regarding any postponement using existing resources.  Local Government ImpactAccording Chamber, Williamson, and Cameron Counties, the bill would have no fiscal impact. According to Tarrant County, the bill could have a fiscal impact on the county if the early voting period of the primary were to overlap with the May municipal election.
