 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
 passing of Robert Charles Thomas on October 1, 2021, at the age of
 57; and
 WHEREAS, Born in Kountze on October 12, 1963, Robert Thomas
 was the son of Henrietta Ridley Thomas and the brother of five
 siblings, Pamela, Donita, Michael, Denice, and George; he attended
 public schools in Silsbee, graduating in 1982, and went on to
 continue his studies at Angelina College in Lufkin; after
 completing training at the Gary Job Corps Center, he enjoyed a
 rewarding career of more than a decade with the Texas Department of
 Criminal Justice, and for a time, he also made his living working
 security at a number of H-E-B stores; and
 WHEREAS, A man of deep faith, Mr. Thomas was actively
 involved in his church and various outreach ministries, and
 throughout his life, he volunteered on many occasions at food
 banks, senior centers, and nursing homes; he also belonged to
 various other clubs and organizations, including the NAACP and the
 Order of the Eastern Star; a member of the Democratic Party, he
 worked tirelessly as a campaign volunteer for President Barack
 Obama and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee; in addition, he made a
 difference in the lives of a number of young trainees at Gary Job
 Corps, and he formed several close friendships during his time
 there; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Thomas was beloved by his family; he was the
 devoted "Pop" of DeAndre and Brittany Schuler, and he treasured his
 role as godfather to Dalethea and Robert Porchia, Robert Walker,
 and Bryce Allen; and
 WHEREAS, Robert Thomas possessed a generosity of spirit that
 expressed itself in myriad ways, and he will always be remembered
 with admiration and affection by all those who held him dear; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
 Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
 Robert Charles Thomas and extend heartfelt sympathy to his family
 and friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Robert
 Charles Thomas.
