No. 82 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A caring and purposeful life drew to a close with the passing of Wanda Jo Rankin of Canadian on July 30, 2021, at the age of 83; and WHEREAS, The former Wanda White was born in Odessa on August 5, 1937, to Art and Josephine White, and she and her brother, Jim, were raised by their grandparents, David and Posey Wilson; she attended school in Canadian; and WHEREAS, On April 7, 1956, she married James Rankin, with whom she shared a loving union that spanned six and a half decades; she took great pride in their children, Toni, Bo, and Charlie, and over the years, she had the pleasure of welcoming into her family 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, While devoting herself to her home and family, Mrs. Rankin contributed immeasurably to her church and to her community of faith; she found joy in helping others, and she enriched the lives of countless people with her encouragement and sage advice; in her leisure time, she delighted in gardening and working in her yard; and WHEREAS, Although Wanda Rankin is greatly missed, memories of her warm and generous nature and her devotion to her loved ones remain to comfort and inspire those she leaves behind; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Wanda Jo Rankin and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of her family: to her husband, James Rankin; to her children, Toni Rankin, Bo Rankin and his wife, Tresea, and Charlie Rankin and his wife, Suzanne; to her grandchildren, Jerod Rankin and his wife, Sherri, Breezy McArthur and her husband, Daniel, Rebecca Ash, Elizabeth Fletcher and her husband, Mason, Reccia Jobe, Tanner Jobe and his wife, Helene, Tatum Pennington and her husband, Shane, Tandi Fletcher and her husband, Jacob, Jed Rankin and his wife, Carley, and Tasha Butler and her husband, Jesse; to her great-grandchildren, Emma McArthur, Saige Hamby and her husband, Jacob, Tinley, Riggs, Tice, and Talon Pennington, Jagger and Blayzyn Butler, Campbell James Rankin, and McCallie, Maudie, and Augustus Fletcher; to her brother, Jim White; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Wanda Rankin.
