No. 27 SENATE RESOLUTION WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Ramiro "Ray" Martinez, who has been honored with a Living Legends of New Braunfels Award by the Braunfels Foundation Trust; and WHEREAS, Each year, the Braunfels Foundation Trust hosts a celebratory luncheon and honors the recipients of the Living Legends of New Braunfels Award, which recognizes a select few individuals who have dedicated years of outstanding support to the people, institutions, and history of New Braunfels; and WHEREAS, Ray Martinez is a native of Kent County and a third-generation Texan; he courageously served in the United States Army as a combat medic, and he went on to distinguish himself for excellence in law enforcement with the Austin Police Department and earned numerous commendations, including the Medal of Valor; he served as a narcotics agent for the Texas Department of Public Safety before joining the Texas Rangers, and in 1978, he transferred to New Braunfels; for the past four decades, he has been proud to call New Braunfels home, and he has remained a treasured local citizen and a devoted steward of the community; and WHEREAS, Ray has served on the boards of numerous civic organizations and has generously volunteered his time and talents on behalf of countless community efforts, such as Wurstfest and the Gruene Music Festival and fund-raising events to benefit local schools and charitable groups; he has served in leadership positions for a wide variety of organizations, including the New Braunfels Noon Lions Club, Comal County Crimestoppers, and the Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce; and WHEREAS, Mr. Martinez has helped the City of New Braunfels to flourish through his devoted civic service, and it is indeed fitting that he receive special recognition for his invaluable contributions to the community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby extend congratulations to Ray Martinez on receiving the Living Legends of New Braunfels Award; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
