                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD     Austin, Texas       FISCAL NOTE, 88TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION             March 29, 2023       TO: Honorable Stephanie Klick, Chair, House Committee on Public Health     FROM: Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board      IN RE: HB1488 by Rose (Relating to sickle cell disease health care improvement and the sickle cell task force.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted     No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would require collaboration between the Health and Human Services Commission and the Sickle Cell Task Force. The bill would also require sickle cell disease education in graduate medical schools and public schools. It is assumed that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.  Local Government ImpactIt is assumed that some schools may need to disseminate information or update health plans regarding sickle cell disease. However, no significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
