A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to designating December 8 as Special Hearts Day.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 662, Government Code, is
amended by adding Section 662.085 to read as follows:
Sec. 662.085. SPECIAL HEARTS DAY. (a) December 8 is
Special Hearts Day in recognition and celebration of artists with
special needs and the mission of Special Hearts in the Arts, a
nonprofit organization in Corpus Christi that offers weekly classes
in theater arts, dance, music, art, and film to persons with special
needs to build a more inclusive community in which people are
defined by their abilities rather than their disabilities.
(b) Special Hearts Day shall be regularly observed by
appropriate ceremonies and activities.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
