King, Chair, House Committee on Natural Resources FROM: Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: HB2759 by Thompson, Ed (Relating to the establishment of the TexMesonet Hydrometeorology Network and creation of the TexMesonet Advisory Committee.), As Introduced No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would direct the Executive Administrator of the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) to establish the TexMesonet Hydrometerology Network. The network would monitor hydrometerological conditions and serve as the statewide repository for hydrometerological data collection and dissemination. The bill would require state agencies and other state entities that collect hydrometerological data to coordinate in the efforts of the network. The Executive Administrator of TWDB may also establish an advisory committee that would provide recommendations related to statewide hydrometerological efforts.The bill would take effect on September 1, 2023.Based on information provided by Texas A&M University, it is assumed that costs to agencies associated with providing collected data to the network could be absorbed using existing resources.
