 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to the provision of school safety training to certain
 employees of a private religious academy or school who hold a
 license to carry a handgun.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Section 411.1901, Government Code, is amended by
 amending Subsection (c) and adding Subsection (f) to read as
 follows:
 (c)  A qualified handgun instructor certified in school
 safety under this section may provide school safety training,
 including instruction in the subjects listed under Subsection (a),
 to employees of a school district, [or] an open-enrollment charter
 school, or a private religious academy or school who hold a license
 to carry a handgun issued under this subchapter.
 (f)  In this section, "private religious academy or school"
 means a school that:
 (1)  offers a course of instruction for students in one
 or more grades from prekindergarten through grade 12;
 (2)  is owned, controlled, operated, and maintained by
 a nonprofit religious organization; and
 (3)  is accredited by an organization approved by the
 Texas Education Agency for private school accreditation.
 SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
