The bill would require the development of a paid quarantine leave policy for public safety employees at certain state agencies. The bill would require affected employees to receive all compensation and benefits during quarantine, as well as receive reimbursement for lodging, medical costs, and transportation.According to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, costs associated with the bill could be significant, depending on the frequency of employee quarantine. The agency notes that the bill would apply to correctional staff and to peace officers. The extent of the agency's costs cannot be determined.
