A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the recording of open meetings held by certain water
districts.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 49, Water Code, is amended
by adding Section 49.0645 to read as follows:
Sec. 49.0645. RECORDING OF MEETINGS. (a) The board shall
make an audio recording of reasonable quality of each open meeting
held by the board.
(b) A recording made under this section must be:
(1) if the district maintains an Internet website:
(A) made available on the Internet website of the
district not later than the fifth day after the date of the meeting;
and
(B) maintained on the Internet website of the
district until the first anniversary of the meeting date; or
(2) if the district does not maintain an Internet
website:
(A) made available to the public at the regular
office of the district; and
(B) maintained until the first anniversary of the
meeting date.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
