The bill would require the department, through the office, to coordinate state resources and programs so food access industry professionals can efficiently use resources to meet the needs of the state, ensure a food system free of disruption, promote the growth, manufacture and processing of agricultural products for farm-to-store and farm-to-table consumption and develop regional food system security and resiliency planning.The bill would require the agency to make recommendations to the Legislature for legislation that may improve food system security and resiliency not later than December 1 of each even-numbered year. Methodology Based on information provided by TDA, this analysis assumes TDA would need two FTEs, and related operating equipment and expenses to implement the provisions of the bill. To administer the food systems office the agency would require a Program Specialist IV and a Program Specialists V. The estimated cost for both FTEs is $195,267 in 2024 and $182,723 in 2025. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
