A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the chair of the governing board of the Texas School for
the Blind and Visually Impaired.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 30.022, Education Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows:
(a-1) The governor shall appoint the chair from among the
membership of the board.
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
to the appointment of a chair of the governing board of the Texas
School for the Blind and Visually Impaired for a term that begins on
or after the effective date of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
