A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the chairperson of the board of directors of the Texas
School Safety Center.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 37.204(a), Education Code, is amended to
read as follows:
(a) The governor shall annually appoint a chairperson from
among the membership of the board. The board shall annually elect
from among its members [a chairperson and] a vice chairperson.
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
to the appointment of a chairperson of the board of directors of the
Texas School Safety Center for a term that begins on or after the
effective date of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
