The bill would increase the penalty for the offense of trafficking of persons to a first degree felony with a minimum 25 year term of imprisonment if the offense is committed within 1,000 feet of a shelter or facility that operates as a residential treatment center serving certain populations, a community center offering youth services and programs, or a child-care facility. It is assumed that any fiscal impact and any impact on state correctional populations or on the demand for state correctional resources would not be significant.
