The bill would shift certain responsibilities related to restitution from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) to the local courts where the restitution was initially ordered. According to TDCJ, any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.  Local Government ImpactThe transfer of responsibilities from TDCJ to local courts would likely create additional duties for court clerks, the fiscal implications of which cannot be determined at this time.
