The bill would amend the Occupations Code to no longer require code enforcement officers and sanitarians to hold a license. This bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, otherwise this bill takes effect September 1, 2023.Based on the analysis from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation and the Comptroller of Public Accounts, this estimate assumes that there will be an insignificant loss in revenue generated from the associated fees of these licenses and an approximately equal decrease in costs to TDLR for staffing needs involving the licensure and enforcement of these two licensee types.
