 Fiscal Analysis

The bill would require the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) to conduct a study to examine the economic impact and potential for economic growth of navigation districts in the state. 

 Methodology

TTI researchers are compensated on an hourly basis for work performed. TTI estimates that compensating researchers to conduct the study and write the report required by the bill, would cost $400,000 in fiscal year 2024 and $125,000 in fiscal year 2025. TTI estimates travel costs associated with conducting the study at $1,200 in fiscal year 2024 and $800 in fiscal year 2025, as well as associated other expenses at $4,000 in fiscal year 2024 and $5,500 in fiscal year 2025.

 Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
