A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the eligibility for employment of a trustee of certain
independent school districts.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Sec. 11.063, Education Code is amended to read as
follows:
Sec. 11.063. ELIGIBILITY FOR EMPLOYMENT. A trustee of an
independent school district, other than a trustee of a district
eligible to receive funding under Chapter 48.101(b), Education
Code, may not accept employment with that school district until the
first anniversary of the date the trustee's membership on the board
ends.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
