A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to protecting a public school educator's ability to
contact elected officials.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 22, Education Code, is
amended by adding Section 22.012 to read as follows:
Sec. 22.012. CONTACT WITH ELECTED OFFICIALS. A school
district may not directly or indirectly prohibit an educator from
contacting the educator's elected officials.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
