A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the authority of the Aransas County Navigation District
to enter into certain leases.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 5001.101, Special District Local Laws
Code, is amended to read as follows:
Sec. 5001.101. PURCHASE OR LEASE OF PROPERTY. (a) Except
as provided by Subsection (b), the [The] district may purchase or
lease property in the same manner as a county.
(b) The district may lease the surface of land for not more
than 90 years. The lease may not be extended beyond the 90-year
period by renewal, extension, or otherwise.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
