No. 1145 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Stephanie Herrera of Horizon Heights Elementary School in the Socorro Independent School District has received the Lavis Mentor Teacher Award from The University of Texas at El Paso College of Education; and WHEREAS, Each year, the Lavis Mentor Teacher Awards are presented to a select number of educators who have excelled in their duties and who have provided valuable guidance and support to UTEP teacher candidates; as a 2023 honoree, Ms. Herrera was awarded $2,500 and was celebrated at the annual College of Education Recognition Event on March 30; and WHEREAS, Public education is an endeavor in which all Texans have a stake, and through her tireless efforts, Stephanie Herrera is helping to further the professional development of the next generation of teachers in the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Stephanie Herrera on receiving the Lavis Mentor Teacher Award from The University of Texas at El Paso College of Education and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Herrera as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
