No. 1260 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Dr. Brian Woods is retiring as superintendent of the Northside Independent School District in June 2023, drawing to a close more than three decades of dedicated service to the district; and WHEREAS, Dr. Woods began his career as a social studies teacher, and he went on to excel in a variety of administrative roles, including assistant principal, vice principal, principal, assistant superintendent, and deputy superintendent; and WHEREAS, Since being appointed superintendent in 2012, Dr. Woods has provided exemplary leadership to Northside ISD during an era of notable growth; he has overseen the addition of 13 new schools and 5 specialized magnet programs in the district, and he helped achieve voter approval for three bond measures totaling more than $2.4 billion to fund facility renovations and improvements; as he concludes his tenure, Northside ISD is the state's fourth largest school district, serving over 102,000 students with a staff of 14,000 employees; and WHEREAS, In recognition of his outstanding achievements, Dr. Woods was named the 2018 Superintendent of the Year by the Texas Association of School Boards; he has further contributed to his professional community in his role as president of the Texas School Alliance; and WHEREAS, With his vision, expertise, and commitment to excellence, Brian Woods has greatly benefited the educational mission of the Northside Independent School District, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his many contributions as he begins the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Brian Woods on his retirement from the Northside Independent School District and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Dr. Woods as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
