No. 1265 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Ray Raymond is retiring from the Trinity Valley Community College Board of Trustees in 2023, drawing to a close more than two decades of exemplary service to the institution; and WHEREAS, A former student at TVCC, Mr. Raymond has served as president of the college's board for eight years; under his leadership, the board has ably met its many responsibilities, which include defining the vision of the college, serving as a liaison between the campus and the community, and setting policies; and WHEREAS, Mr. Raymond has further contributed to his fellow citizens through his involvement with the Kaufman County Children's Shelter, Single Appraisal District Board, and Committee on Aging, as well as the Kaufman Presbyterian Hospital board and Economic Development Corporation; he also played an instrumental role in establishing the Kaufman County Solid Waste Management Cooperative, Leadership Council, and Veterans' Memorial Park; he was named the 1996 Citizen of the Year by the Kaufman Chamber of Commerce, and he received the prestigious American FFA Degree from the National FFA Organization; sustained by his deep faith, he is a longtime member of First Baptist Church; and WHEREAS, Now retired, Mr. Raymond enjoyed a rewarding career with Kaufman County Electric Cooperative, Inc., which he served as general manager for three decades; his many achievements in that role included overseeing a merger to form Trinity Valley Electric Cooperative, Inc., and along the way, he organized Rayburn Electric Cooperative in Rockwall and served on the Texas Electric Cooperatives Board as well as Southwestern Power Administration's Seven State Committee; a proud veteran, he was a member of the 49th Armored Division, which was mobilized during the Berlin Crisis in 1961; and WHEREAS, Ray Raymond's dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence have greatly benefited the mission of Trinity Valley Community College and earned him the respect and admiration of the campus's faculty, staff, and students, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his many contributions; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby commend Ray Raymond for his many years of service on the Trinity Valley Community College Board of Trustees and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Raymond as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
