R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their
memories of Leone Drugan Ivey of El Paso, who passed away on
December 1, 2022, at the age of 93; and
WHEREAS, Born on December 21, 1928, in Miami, Arizona, Leone
Ivey attended Ysleta High School in El Paso; she participated in the
Newman Club as a student and met her future husband, Benjamin Lee
Ivey, at a Newman Club hayride; and
WHEREAS, The couple went on to enjoy a rewarding marriage
that spanned 54 years, and they became the proud parents of 14
children, Laurie, Ben, Tommy, Dennis, David, Brian, Chris, Mark,
Marty, Mary, Adrienne, Matthew, Patrick, and Michael; with the
passing years, Mrs. Ivey had the privilege of welcoming 25
grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and a
great-great-grandchild into her family; and
WHEREAS, A woman of faith, Mrs. Ivey served as altar society
president at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church and held
membership with the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Our Lady of
the Desert Court No. 2236; and
WHEREAS, Leone Ivey lived a full and generous life surrounded
by those she loved, and they will forever carry her close in their
hearts; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Leone Drugan Ivey
and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn her passing; and, be
it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Leone Ivey.
