R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan
Sanstha (BAPS) is hosting the Celebration of Selfless Service Day
event at the historic Texas State Capitol on May 10, 2023; and
WHEREAS, BAPS is an international spiritual organization
dedicated to peace and harmony; the group strives to care for the
world by caring for societies, families, and individuals, and it
operates BAPS Charities, a nonprofit that promotes community
service; and
WHEREAS, BAPS is a prominent Hindu organization in Texas with
places of worship in Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Corpus
Christi, Lubbock, League City, and Beaumont; its members serve
their communities under the guidance and example of the group's
spiritual leader, His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj, and through
the wisdom of his predecessor, His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj,
who often said, "In the joy of others, lies our own"; and
WHEREAS, The Celebration of Selfless Service in Texas
recognizes the myriad spiritual, socioeconomic, and cultural
contributions that BAPS and the wider Indian American community
have made to the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby commend BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha and His
Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj on the organization's commitment to
selfless service in communities across Texas and the nation and
extend to all those associated with the group sincere appreciation
for their important work; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for BAPS as an expression of high regard by the Texas House
of Representatives.
