H.R. No. 1282
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The 70th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed
cause for celebration, and Angela Gonzales Mejia of Channelview is
marking that special milestone on April 30, 2023; and
WHEREAS, The daughter of Augustine and Leonor Rios, the
former Angela Rios was born in 1953, and she grew up in the town of
Three Rivers; she eventually became the proud mother of six
children, April, Enrique, Usbaldo, Sonya, Antonia, and Moises, and
over the years, she has had the pleasure of welcoming into her
family 29 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Mejia enjoyed a rewarding career with
Southwestern Bell that spanned three decades before her retirement,
and she was an active and longtime member of the Communications
Workers of America union; she has also served as president of her
local chapter of the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement,
and she was a member of the organization's national executive board
for four years; engaged in politics, she has volunteered with
numerous campaigns for candidates at the county, state, and
national levels; and
WHEREAS, Respected and admired by all who are privileged to
know her, Angela Mejia may reflect with great satisfaction on a
lifetime of achievement, and it is a pleasure to join her many
friends and loved ones in honoring her on this memorable occasion;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Angela Gonzales Mejia on her 70th
birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Mejia as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
