No. 1296 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Coleman Locke was inducted into the American Brahman Breeders Hall of Fame on March 1, 2023; and WHEREAS, A fifth-generation rancher, Mr. Locke is the president of J. D. Hudgins, Inc. and a partner and manager of the Locke Division of J. D. Hudgins Ranch, a family-run operation in Hungerford that specializes in American Registered Brahman cattle and has been breeding beef-type Brahmans since 1908; the ranch has been annually recognized as one of the 10 largest purebred producers in the United States by the National Cattlemen's Beef Association; it runs up to 1,850 head of cattle at any given time and sells live breeding animals both domestically and internationally; and WHEREAS, Mr. Locke is chair of the Texas Animal Health Commission, an honorary director of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and lifetime director of the American Brahman Breeders Association; moreover, he previously served as president of ABBA and the Texas Brahman Association, as well as chair of the Texas Beef Council and the Beef Promotion Research Council of Texas; and WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Locke enjoys the love and support of his wife, Regina, and he takes great pride in his 4 children and 12 grandchildren; and WHEREAS, A longtime leader in his field, Coleman Locke has distinguished himself in the Lone Star State and beyond through his extensive experience in the Brahman cattle industry, and he is indeed deserving of this prestigious honor for his lifetime of achievement; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Coleman Locke on his induction into the American Brahman Breeders Hall of Fame and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Locke as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
