 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
 passing of Everett Barker "Butch" Williams on July 25, 2022, at the
 age of 80; and
 WHEREAS, A native of Beaumont, Everett Williams was born on
 February 6, 1942, to Floyd Everett and Villa Mae Morehead Williams,
 and he grew up in Anahuac with two siblings, Drew and Kathy; while
 attending school in Anahuac, he excelled in sports, earning
 honorable mention All-State honors in football and placing in
 several state track events; during this time, he met the love of his
 life, the former Shirley Jenkins, whom he wed in 1963; over the
 course of 58 years of marriage, the couple made their home in
 Hankamer and raised three sons, Everett, Tim, and Danny; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Williams attended Baylor University on a
 football scholarship and played on the team that won the 1963
 Bluebonnet Bowl championship; in 1966, he graduated from The
 University of Texas School of Law, and he took an associate position
 with the Houston law firm of Dempsey Prappas; he subsequently moved
 to Baytown and became a partner in the law firm of Reid, Strickland &
 Gillette, where he practiced real estate law for more than five
 decades; and
 WHEREAS, In later life, Mr. Williams was blessed with six
 grandchildren, Jerod, Hannah, Grace, Gage, Charlotte, and Cooper,
 and a "bonus grandchild," Carl Isaacs, along with four
 great-grandchildren, Gideon, Teagan, Asher, and Finn; devoted to
 his faith, he attended services at the Church of Christ in Mont
 Belvieu for over 60 years, and he further dedicated himself to his
 community in his roles as a director of Anahuac National Bank and
 American Plant Food in Galena Park for many decades; he enjoyed
 hunting and spending time in the outdoors, and he was admired for
 his gifts as both a superb cook and a wonderful storyteller; and
 WHEREAS, Everett Williams was a source of joy and inspiration
 to all who were privileged to know him, and he will forever hold a
 cherished place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
 Legislature pay tribute to the life of Everett Barker "Butch"
 Williams and extend sincere sympathy to all those who mourn his
 passing; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Everett
 Williams.
