H.R. No. 1474
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Corsicana Independent School District has
received the 2023 H-E-B Excellence in Education Award in the small
school district category; and
WHEREAS, Established in 2002, the H-E-B Excellence in
Education Awards program annually celebrates the contributions of
public school professionals from across the Lone Star State; the
school district award recognizes those districts that have worked
to achieve student progress through innovative programs, parent and
community engagement, and professional development for teachers
and administrators; Corsicana ISD was chosen as a 2023 winner from
among a group of three finalists and was presented with a $50,000
cash prize; and
WHEREAS, Corsicana ISD currently serves approximately 6,000
students across 8 campuses; benefiting from the leadership of
superintendent Dr. Diane Frost, the district offers a wide variety
of academic and extracurricular opportunities that help equip
students with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed,
including numerous career and technical education programs and dual
credit courses; moreover, the district has been recognized for its
initiative, the Penguin Project, which empowers students with
special needs through theater; and
WHEREAS, The faculty, staff, and administration of Corsicana
ISD have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to excellence and
to the future of their community, and they may indeed take pride in
this notable achievement; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Corsicana Independent School
District on its receipt of the 2023 H-E-B Excellence in Education
Award in the small school district category and extend to all those
associated with the district sincere best wishes for continued
success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the district as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
