R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Tarleton State University cheer team reached the
pinnacle of success by winning the Game Day Division 2 championship
at the 2023 National Cheerleaders Association & National Dance
Alliance College Nationals; and
WHEREAS, Joining other top squads from throughout the country
in Daytona Beach, Florida, from April 6 to 8, the TSU Texans
delivered an exceptional performance; competing in the Game Day
Division 2 category, Tarleton State held first place after the
preliminary round and went on to triumph in the final round with a
total score of 95.4292; and
WHEREAS, In earning the national title, the Texans received
valuable contributions from each member of the roster: Jessica
Alff, Makaela Allen, Kaylin Ashlock, Rylee Barnes, Abby Beard,
Kiley Benedict, Maria Blakebrough, Brianna Bowyer, Kaityn Brown,
Heaven Chappell, Ellissa Comeaux, Katy Conwell, Brianna Davis,
Raven Elmore, Taegen Graham, Miracle Gray, Sydney Herndon, Hailey
James, Isabella Jenkins, Jessica Joplin, Brennah Kosier, Ashley
Machuca, Hope Marx, Abby Mitchell, Jayden Morris, Brysen Richey,
Rylie Stimmel, Mariah Tijerina, Macie Turrentine, Payton Twiner,
Jordyn Watson, Ryleigh Webb, Maysun Whittle, Makylie Wise, Madison
Wood, Taytum Young, Jake Anderson, Legend Brown, Lane Dowell, Wyatt
Gay, Micah Hobin, Joshua Johnson, Walker Kirk, Garrett Leggitt,
Matthew Martin, Landon McMinn, Peyton Payblas, Kolby Smith, and
McCaleb Wise; these skilled and dedicated cheerleaders benefit from
the able leadership of head coach Blaine Hamilton; and
WHEREAS, Winning a national championship represents the
culmination of countless hours of training and an unwavering
commitment to excellence, and the Tarleton State cheer team is a
source of great pride to the entire university community; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Tarleton State University
cheer team on winning the Game Day Division 2 championship at the
2023 NCA & NDA College Nationals and extend to the team members
sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
