 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Amarillo High School tennis team achieved great
 distinction by winning the 5A championship at the 2022 University
 Interscholastic League Team Tennis State Tournament; and
 WHEREAS, Highly ranked throughout the regular season,
 Amarillo surrendered just 19 points en route to winning the
 District 3-5A title; the Sandies carried their momentum into the
 postseason, dispatching Lubbock Cooper, El Paso Jefferson, Abilene
 Wylie, Argyle, and Lubbock High Schools to secure the Region 1-5A
 crown and advance to the state tournament; in the semifinals, the
 squad cruised to an 11-0 victory over Austin Liberal Arts and
 Science Academy to clinch a berth in the finals; and
 WHEREAS, On October 27, Amarillo took the court against
 Frisco Centennial High School with the state crown on the line; the
 Sandies recorded victories in five singles matches and five doubles
 matches to triumph by a final score of 10-7; with the win, the
 Amarillo players collected the first team tennis state championship
 in school history and ended a storybook season with a record of 29
 wins and just one loss; and
 WHEREAS, Excelling with a true team effort, Amarillo received
 valuable contributions throughout the year from each member of the
 roster: Eleanor Archer, Morgan Rose, Karli Lakey, Allex Gonzales,
 Seren Wilson, Caroline Artho, Halle Rose, Maria Steans, Lauren
 Wilkie, Grace Logan, Catherine Nenstiel, Wade Bryant, Kelton Brown,
 Taylor Vigil, Carson Kersh, Pranav Nambiar, Alex Earthman, Grayson
 Taylor, Barrett Stroud, Javier Teran Jenaro, Nathaniel Wright,
 Caleb Kersh, Matthew Whitecotton, and William Ritter; these
 dedicated student-athletes were ably guided by head coach Koby Otto
 and assistant coach Timothy Whitecotton, and they received
 additional support from manager Ashley Seymour; and
 WHEREAS, Winning a state championship represents the
 culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering
 commitment to excellence, and the Amarillo High School Sandies may
 reflect with pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate the Amarillo High School tennis
 team on winning the 2022 UIL 5A team tennis state championship and
 extend to the athletes, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for
 the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
