R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The 50th annual Strawberry Festival is taking place
in Pasadena on May 18 through 21, 2023; and
WHEREAS, First held as a one-time celebration on a football
practice field, the Pasadena Strawberry Festival has grown to
become one of the largest annual events in the area, attracting more
than 50,000 visitors each year; the festival celebrates the city's
agricultural history and a time when it was known as the Strawberry
Capital of the South; and
WHEREAS, This much-anticipated event features a variety of
activities and attractions, including a barbecue cook-off,
helicopter rides, a carnival, parades, and a mud volleyball
tournament; in addition, guests can enjoy live music and other
performances; and
WHEREAS, Proceeds from the festival support local nonprofit
organizations and provide scholarships for graduates of area high
schools; and
WHEREAS, A fun occasion for all ages, the Pasadena Strawberry
Festival is a beloved community tradition, and it promises to be a
source of fond memories for all those in attendance; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby commemorate the 50th annual Strawberry Festival
in Pasadena and extend to the organizers and attendees sincere best
wishes for a successful and enjoyable event.
