R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Dalton Leven of Dumas High School closed out his
senior year of competition in triumphant fashion, winning the state
championship in the 198-pound weight class at the 2023 Texas High
School Powerlifting Association Division 2 State Meet; and
WHEREAS, Joining the other top high school lifters in Texas
at the state event in Abilene on March 24, Mr. Leven delivered an
exceptional performance; hoisting 645 pounds in the squat, 410
pounds in the bench press, and 585 pounds in the dead lift, he
tallied 1,640 total pounds to secure the victory; and
WHEREAS, The gold-medal showing capped a remarkable run of
success for this talented athlete; he earned his berth at the state
meet by winning the Region 1 title on March 6, and he has collected
an impressive array of gold, silver, and bronze medals at other
meets over the course of his high school career; and
WHEREAS, Winning a state championship represents the
culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering
commitment to excellence, and Dalton Leven may indeed reflect with
pride on this outstanding accomplishment; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Dalton Leven on winning the state
title in the 198-pound weight class at the 2023 THSPA Division 2
State Meet and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Leven as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
