H.R. No. 1955
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Zurri Zamora of Tascosa High School in Amarillo
achieved great distinction with her exceptional performance in the
5A girls' competition at the 2023 University Interscholastic League
Wrestling State Tournament; and
WHEREAS, Competing in the 100-pound weight class, Ms. Zamora
qualified for the state meet after dominating the competition to
claim the district and regional crowns; on February 17 and 18, she
joined the top high school wrestlers in Texas at the Berry Center in
Cypress; demonstrating tremendous skill and determination in all
her matches, she advanced through the bracket to ultimately clinch
the silver medal in her division; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Zamora went on to compete at the 2023 National
High School Coaches Association High School Nationals, held March
24 through 26 in Virginia Beach, Virginia; there, she earned
All-American status for her strong showing in the 100-pound weight
category; and
WHEREAS, By medaling in the state's premier showcase for high
school wrestlers, Zurri Zamora has ably represented her school and
community, and she will long cherish her memories of this
outstanding accomplishment; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Zurri Zamora on winning the silver
medal in the 5A 100-pound weight class at the 2023 UIL Wrestling
State Tournament and extend to her sincere best wishes for
continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Zamora as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
