No. 2012 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived may help to comfort those saddened by the passing of Alberto Maldonado of Kingsville on April 28, 2023, at the age of 93; and WHEREAS, The son of Librado and Ella Maldonado, "Beto" Maldonado was born in Kingsville on January 16, 1930, and he grew up with the companionship of five siblings, Alicia, Aurora, Amelia, Placido, and Lee; and WHEREAS, Mr. Maldonado was a longtime employee of the King Ranch, and over the course of his 80-year career there, he worked in the single and multiple sire herd division and traveled the world introducing the Santa Gertrudis breed of cattle, which the ranch developed; his many adventures included parading a 2,900-pound bull, Macho, through the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and transporting 21 bulls by air to Casablanca; after his retirement from cattle operations, he served the King Ranch Visitor Center as a tour guide, and he continued to give generously of his time to the center as the years went on; in 2009, he published the book The Master Showmen of King Ranch: The Story of Beto and Librado Maldonado, which tells the story of his and his father's eventful lives on the ranch; and WHEREAS, Mr. Maldonado shared a rewarding marriage with his wife, Dora, that spanned nearly seven decades before her passing in 2016; he was the proud father of five children, Dora, Norma, Samuel, Albert, and Catalina, and with the passing years, he had the privilege of seeing his family grow to include 7 grandchildren, Sonia, Veronica, Samantha, Mario, Monica, Tracy, and Daniel, and 12 great-grandchildren, Andres, Makayla, Dylyn, Carlos, Samuel, Landon, Kinley, Caroline, Finn, Lorraine, Tre, and Molly, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, Mylah and Liam; and WHEREAS, While the death of Beto Maldonado brings immeasurable sorrow to his family and friends, he leaves behind a legacy that will long be treasured by all those who held him dear; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Alberto Maldonado and extend sincere condolences to his loved ones; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Beto Maldonado.
