H.R. No. 2013
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Gtek Communications in Portland is celebrating its
20th anniversary in 2023, and this occasion offers a welcome
opportunity to recognize the history and accomplishments of this
notable local enterprise; and
WHEREAS, Owned by Portland natives Manfred, Jeff, and Rainer
Gleinig, the company started out as a cell phone and computer repair
shop when it opened its doors in 2003; the business has since
expanded to provide internet, phone, and security services, and it
moved into a larger facility in 2015 in order to meet the needs of
its growing client base; and
WHEREAS, Today, Gtek Communications serves over 50 urban and
rural communities across South Texas from its headquarters in
Portland, with more than 60 local employees providing internet to
some 12,000 customers; the company also gives back to area
residents by sponsoring a variety of events and youth activities;
and
WHEREAS, By creating jobs and helping to ensure a more
connected South Texas, Gtek Communications is contributing to the
vitality of that region, and the company is indeed deserving of
recognition as it marks this important milestone in its history;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Gtek Communications on its 20th
anniversary and extend to the Gleinig family and their employees
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Gtek Communications as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
