H.R. No. 2032 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the passing of Dr. Arnold J. Morris Jr. of Arlington on April 11, 2023, at the age of 77; and WHEREAS, The son of Arnold Morris Sr. and Evelyn Morris, A. J. Morris was born in Archer City on November 12, 1945, and he grew up with the companionship of two siblings, Burk and Julie; he graduated from Archer City High School in 1964 and went on to attend The University of Texas at Austin before enlisting in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; over the course of his six years of service, he earned the rank of captain and received a number of military honors, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal; and WHEREAS, Following his return to civilian life, Dr. Morris earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and subsequently embarked on a rewarding career as a physician that spanned four decades, during which he helped countless patients through his skilled and compassionate care; active in his community, he was a member of American Legion Post No. 198 and Archer Masonic Lodge No. 708; and WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Dr. Morris enjoyed the love and support of his wife, Deborah, and he took great pride in his two sons, Arnold J. and John; with the passing years, he had the privilege of seeing his family grow to include three grandchildren, Archer, Jett, and Hattie; he was known for his love of animals and his dry sense of humor, and in his leisure time, he enjoyed keeping up with the news; and WHEREAS, Although A. J. Morris will be deeply missed, he has left his family and friends with a wealth of memories that they will forever treasure; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Dr. Arnold J. Morris Jr. and extend heartfelt condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of A.
