 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Robert Rocha is retiring as chief of the Corpus
 Christi Fire Department in 2023, after more than a decade of
 dedicated service to the agency; and
 WHEREAS, A native of Kansas City, Robert Rocha began his
 career in 1982 with the Kansas City Fire Department, and in 2011, he
 became chief of the Corpus Christi FD; he has ably overseen the
 department's staff, which currently includes 446 sworn
 firefighters and 16 civilian employees, and over the course of his
 tenure, he has played an instrumental role in securing funding to
 hire personnel, pay for training courses, and purchase equipment;
 under his direction, the department has constructed two new fire
 stations and established the Hazardous Materials Team as a FEMA
 Type 1 response team; and
 WHEREAS, This respected public servant has benefited his
 professional community as president of the Metropolitan Fire Chiefs
 Association and as a member of the National Fire Protection
 Association Standards Committee for Mass Evacuation; moreover, he
 gives generously of his time and talents to the United Way of the
 Coastal Bend board of directors, the Parent Teacher Student
 Association of Collegiate High School, and the finance board of Our
 Lady of Guadalupe Church; and
 WHEREAS, Chief Rocha holds an associate's degree in fire
 science, a bachelor's degree in management and human relations, and
 an executive master's degree in business administration; in all his
 endeavors, he enjoys the love and support of his family, which
 includes his four children, Hannah, Dominic, Gabriella, and Olivia;
 and
 WHEREAS, With his outstanding leadership, dedication, and
 commitment to excellence, Robert Rocha is highly esteemed and
 admired by his firefighting colleagues as well as by the members of
 the wider community, and he will be greatly missed by all at the
 Corpus Christi Fire Department; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Robert Rocha on his retirement as
 chief of the Corpus Christi Fire Department and extend to him
 sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Chief Rocha as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
