No. 2524 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Louie Mueller Barbecue in Taylor has been named a recipient of a Texas Treasure Business Award from the Texas Historical Commission; and WHEREAS, An initiative of the Texas Historical Commission's Community Heritage Division, the Texas Treasure Business Award program was created in 2005; the award recognizes businesses that have provided jobs and enriched the local economy for 50 years or more, and it pays tribute to the exceptional historical contributions of these well-established enterprises; and WHEREAS, Family owned and operated for 74 years, Louie Mueller Barbecue was founded in 1949 by Louie Mueller; his son, Bobby Mueller, took over the restaurant in 1974, and in 2007 his grandson, Wayne Mueller, became the third generation in the family to join the business; Louie Mueller Barbecue received the prestigious America's Classics award from the James Beard Foundation in 2006, and it has been named among the Top BBQ Joints in Texas by Texas Monthly numerous times; and WHEREAS, Local businesses of long standing play a vital role in the culture and economy of the Lone Star State, and it is indeed a pleasure to honor Louie Mueller Barbecue for the high regard it has enjoyed in the Taylor community over the past 74 years; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Louie Mueller Barbecue in Taylor on receiving a Texas Treasure Business Award from the Texas Historical Commission and extend to the Mueller family sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the restaurant as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
