88R12837 CJM-D By: Harris of Williamson H.R. No. 368 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Jennifer Spiller has been named the recipient of a 2022 Joe S. Mundy Award from Southwestern University; and WHEREAS, Established in 2002, the Mundy Awards were created to pay tribute to Southwestern University alumnus and former trustee Joe Mundy; the awards recognize faculty and staff members who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the university and its students; and WHEREAS, A fitting recipient of this notable accolade, Jennifer Spiller is the family nurse practitioner and health services manager at Southwestern University; she has played a vital role in the school's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, serving on the health and safety committee and exploring on-site testing options, setting up an alternative clinic, and teaching others about contact tracing and care management; moreover, she continued to treat students despite the risk to her own health; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Spiller received an undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin in 1995, and she went on to attend nursing school and earn a master's degree in nursing at Angelo State University; she first joined the Southwestern University Health Center in 2013, when she took a position as a family nurse practitioner; she currently lives in Georgetown with her husband and two children; and WHEREAS, Through her passion, professionalism, and dedication to her patients, Jennifer Spiller has exemplified the highest ideals of her profession, and it is a pleasure to join in honoring her for her contributions to the Southwestern University community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Jennifer Spiller on her receipt of a 2022 Joe S. Mundy Award from Southwestern University and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success with her important work; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Spiller as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
