 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Tomball Memorial High School cheerleading team
 proved itself one of the finest in Texas by winning the 6A Division
 1 title at the 2023 University Interscholastic League Spirit State
 Championships; and
 WHEREAS, Competing from January 12 through 14 at the Fort
 Worth Convention Center, the Tomball Memorial cheerleaders opened
 with an outstanding preliminary-round performance; entering the
 finals in third place, the Wildcats demonstrated tremendous
 resolve, posting scores of 45.53 and 41.93 in the Fight Song/Band
 Chant and Crowd Leading events for an overall score of 87.47;
 emerging triumphant in its first state meet at the 6A Division 1
 level, Tomball Memorial bested its closest foes by a margin of 2.1
 points to claim the school's inaugural state cheerleading crown;
 and
 WHEREAS, Excelling with a true team effort, the Wildcats
 received valuable contributions from each member of the roster as
 they pursued their goal of becoming state champions; these talented
 student-athletes were ably led by head coach Sarah Ellison, who has
 directed the Wildcats to second-place, fourth-place, and
 first-place state showings since taking the helm of the program,
 and the team also benefited from the guidance of assistant coaches
 Jennifer Koster and Rebecca Weverka; and
 WHEREAS, Winning a state championship represents the
 culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering
 commitment to excellence, and the members of the Tomball Memorial
 cheerleading team will treasure the memory of this accomplishment
 for the rest of their lives; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate the Tomball Memorial High School
 cheerleading team on winning the 6A Division 1 title at the 2023 UIL
 Spirit State Championships and extend to all associated with the
 team sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the Wildcats as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
