H.R. No. 557 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Katherine Chiarello is being honored by the Travis County Women Lawyers' Association with the Litigation/Appellate Attorney Award on April 20, 2023; and WHEREAS, A partner at Wittliff Cutter in Austin, Ms. Chiarello is an experienced lawyer who has represented both small and large businesses, as well as individuals; equally adept at defense and prosecution, she is frequently first chair or co-chair on cases, and she has served as a litigator, arbitrator, mediator, and internal investigator; and WHEREAS, Ms. Chiarello earned a bachelor's degree from Trinity University in 1995 and a law degree with honors from The University of Texas School of Law in 1998; she started her legal career at Williams & Connolly in Washington, D.C., and went on to practice with Austin trial lawyer Shannon Ratliff until 2016, when she joined Wittliff Cutter; she has also been retained as local counsel for many out-of-town firms; and WHEREAS, Active in her professional community, Ms. Chiarello has held membership with a number of organizations, including the Travis County Women Lawyers' Association and the Texas State Bar Association; moreover, she has served as a mentor to many young attorneys, and she works tirelessly to increase voter turnout; and WHEREAS, Admired for her keen intellect, dedication, and kindness, Katherine Chiarello has upheld the highest standards of her profession, and she is indeed deserving of this most recent honor; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Katherine Chiarello on receiving the Litigation/Appellate Attorney Award from the Travis County Women Lawyers' Association and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Chiarello as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
